Ongoing transportation projects in Frisco


2020 Sidewalk Program


Work on the city’s 2020 Sidewalk Improvements Project began this summer, according to the city’s August engineering report. Improvements range from pedestrian ramp work to 8-foot-wide hike and bike trails at various locations throughout the city, including north of the Independence Parkway fields and west of Coit Road at Collinsbrook Drive.


Timeline: April-December (construction)


Cost: $534,350

Lebanon Road widening


Construction to widen Lebanon Road from Parkwood Boulevard to Ohio Drive and improvements to John Hickman Parkway began in late July, according to the city’s August engineering report. In advance of construction, the city parks department removed and relocated several median trees. Work should wrap up next summer.


Timeline: July 2020-June 2021 (construction)


Cost: $5.1 million

Upcoming


Panther Creek Parkway roadway


Design plans to construct a six-lane roadway for Panther Creek Parkway between the Dallas North Tollway and Preston Road are expected to be 90% completed in August, according to the city’s monthly engineering report. The project is scheduled to go into the construction phase later this year.


Timeline: January-September (design), December 2020-September 2022 (construction)


Cost: $35 million

Lebanon Road and Stonebrook Parkway traffic signals


Design recently began to install new traffic signals for Lebanon Road at Rock Creek Parkway and for Stonebrook Parkway at Lone Star Ranch Parkway, according to the city’s August engineering report. Construction on both signals could begin as early as January 2021.


Timeline: July-December (design), January-June 2021 (construction)

FM 423 traffic signal


Design is completed and bids are being received to construct a new traffic signal at FM 423 and Old Newman Road. Construction on the traffic signal is expected to begin in October, according to the city’s August engineering report.
